About Us
RockHaven is a small Cane Corso breeder located in the High Desert region of Southern California. We're on a little over an acre about 85 NorthEast of Los Angeles in Hesperia. The summers are hot, the winters are cold, and the sunsets are unbelievably beautiful!
Our animal world consists of some chickens, 4 cane corsos. I sell farm-fresh eggs to some local patrons. Other than that, it's all about the dogs: going to shows starting in 2009, and freshening up their skills (obedience and/or protection) with regular training.
First and foremost, my dogs are my dogs-- they are not kept in kennels (except periodically for specific training courses)-- they live in the house & yard. They also love to go in the truck! It is a rare occasion that I won't have at least one of them with me! RockHaven's goal is not to be the largest breeder. The goal is to stay small, producing the best cane corsos, capable of showing and working. Rest assured, we will always have GREAT dogs because of this ideal!! Quality over Quantity.
I am carefully building our breeding stock; I strive to find the best of the breed-- in health, temperament, and working ability-- and there's no rushing it. I am more than happy to help you and your family learn about the breed, determine some of the important qualities you may be looking for in a family companion, and also refer you to some of my breeder friends who have litters when you are looking.
In the meantime, we will periodically have rescue dogs for adoption. My belief is that the cane corso is MUCH too special and rare a breed, to end up in shelters! Therefore, if any ever end up in the local shelters I will foster them until a suitable family can be found.
I encourage anyone interested in possibly owning this breed to do their research about it: History, temperament, tendancies, habits, capabilities and more. They are awesome dogs! A true blessing. But like any large (& smart) breed, they require capable owners. A corso left to his own devices & who thinks he/she is "boss" is 100lbs + of quick wit and power. This is the "Mercedes of dogs" - highly capable, beautiful, refined, and fast, but you would never just leave one in the back yard to rust, or you will have some severe maintenance problems over time.
I do not intend to reiterate all the various literature on this website, for the specific purpose to prompt interested folks to research for themselves. I also do not want you to only take my word for it. That said, I encourage you to contact me with any questions you have have about the wonderful Cane Corso!
